This week we have been comparing and measuring lengths to find out which is the longest and shortest and sorting into order. Today children were investigating how to work out which is the longest without being able to move any items to compare.

Children had to prove which line was the longest and how they had worked it out.

Unfortunately, the ideas of using a measuring tape or a ruler could not be used as these had been stolen, so we had to think of a way to work it out?

The ideas which children thought of for their first investigation were fantastic. Using our bodies like a ruler, using sticks to measure to compare, using our hands, using our feet, using our arms and so many other creative ideas.

We look forward to our next investigation!
