Year 5 art work As part of our World War One topic, Year 5 are going to create trench silhouettes using charcoal.  Today we explored using charcoal to create texture using line and tone.  So far, so good.  We will post our finished masterpieces in the coming weeks.

After School Enrichment Clubs – Autumn 1

After School Enrichment Clubs – Autumn 1 Enrolment forms are emailed out to parents each half term to inform them of the enrichments clubs which are available after school. Children are informed in assembly what clubs are available to them.

Each half term the clubs change and throughout the year Ambassadors in school will be involved in running clubs too.

Enrolment for Autumn 2 clubs will take place during the last week of the half term.

Reception Building Dens And Hunting For Mini-beasts At The Rising Sun Country Park. Reception have enjoyed walking to the Rising Sun Country Park. We explored different ways of building dens and then looked for mini-beats. Using our mini bug viewers with a magnifying lens on the top we looked closely at many different mini-beasts.

The children loved exploring how they moved and looking at the bodies of the mini-beasts. We closely at slugs, centipedes, millipedes, a dragon fly, a bee, spiders, worms, beetles, woodlouse, daddy long legs and more.

Year 1 ‘s Trip to St. Mary’s Lighthouse

Year 1 ‘s Trip to St. Mary’s Lighthouse Year one had an excellent day learning about the lighthouse and looking for signs of life in the surrounding rock pools. We climbed all the way to the top of the lighthouse and really enjoyed finding the crabs; some of which were rather large!

Year 6 visit to Tyneside Cinema Year 6 have been learning all about the history of the Tyneside Cinema.  Today they enjoyed a visit to the cinema and had a tour and learnt more about the history of the cinema.  We also had great fun completing our IMutt challenge!

Year 1 visit to Old Low Lights

Year 1 visit to Old Low Lights Year 1 enjoyed an excellent trip learning about the life of fishermen and history of industry at the Old Low Lights on North Shields Fish Quay. They had the chance to find out about life boats and how they operate too.

To finish the day we had a walk along the river to Tynemouth. A super day had by all!

Year 4 Skipping Festival A huge well done to Year 4 who won the first heat in the North Tyneside Skipping Festival and made it to the finals in July.  As a team the class worked so hard to develop individual skills as well as a whole group skip dance.  Lost more practise to come ready for the finals.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers 2017 A massive thank you to everyone for your support collecting the Sainsbury's Active Kids vouchers for 2017.

We have collected our highest total of 6,518 vouchers.

An order will be placed for new equipment in school including tennis nets and tennis balls, stop watches and jumbo magnifying glasses.

STEAM Day 4 in Reception, River Tyne paper mache model and plastercine river animals. Reception children have been creative today investigating what animals they might find in and about the River Tyne and then making their choice through manipulating different colour plastercines for effect.

We have also started writing our River Tyne poems and will be finishing these tomorrow.
