Kandinsky’s Inspired Artwork from Year 1 Year one have been loving their art looking at the artist Kandinsky and how he using different shapes and contrasting colours in his artwork. This week we have looked at using contrasting colours using paint.

All children were extremely focused and took great care in producing some amazing work.

Entomology Fun for Year 5’s STEAM Week

Entomology Fun for Year 5’s STEAM Week Year 5 have been learning all about Maria Sibylla Merian who was an entomologist who loved bugs.  She was a fantastic artist who had great attention to detail of the flowers and bugs she painted.

 

The children have also enjoyed building a huge bridge with ICE Bridges.  They have been amazing engineers this week and throughly enjoyed STEAM 2018.

Reception building dens. Reception have been making the most of the nice weather. An afternoon of den building. The children worked together to make dens using a variety of materials. We predicted then tested the materials to see which material would keep us dry.

Reception Traditional Tales Day

Reception Traditional Tales Day Reception children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite character and parents / carers were invited in to take part in different activities including gingerbread men decorating, craft, puppet shows, story telling and more.

Digital ambassadors were also on hand to show parents and children the app Finger Paint with sounds and how to log into Oxford Owl to access many free online books.

Year 5 IPad Band

Year 5 IPad Band Year 5 were selected to take part in an iPad Band project alongside 15 other schools who are part of North Tyneside Learning Trust.  The children went to the Y-Studio in North Shields for their training day.  They learnt how to play ‘Dancing in the Dark’ by Bruce Springsteen.  We have some very talented musicians in our band and superb singers!  We are really excited for the ‘Battle of the Bands’ at Whitley Bay Playhouse in June.

STEAM Day 4 in Reception, River Tyne paper mache model and plastercine river animals. Reception children have been creative today investigating what animals they might find in and about the River Tyne and then making their choice through manipulating different colour plastercines for effect.

We have also started writing our River Tyne poems and will be finishing these tomorrow.
