STEAM Day 4 in Reception, River Tyne paper mache model and plastercine river animals. Reception children have been creative today investigating what animals they might find in and about the River Tyne and then making their choice through manipulating different colour plastercines for effect.

We have also started writing our River Tyne poems and will be finishing these tomorrow.

Year 1’s River Art This morning, Year 1 created their own pieces of art based on the River Tyne. They painted their river backgrounds, then cut out and glued their own boats on top. A lot of excellent artwork Year 1, well done!

Year 4 visit the Baltic!

Year 4 visit the Baltic! This term Year 4 have been learning all about rivers.  As part of this we learnt about bridges along the River Tyne within our DT lessons.  To end this topic we visited some of these bridges today.  We walked across the Millenium Bridge, Swing Bridge and High Level Bridge as well as visiting the Baltic's viewing terrace to sketch the bridges.  It was a very fun filled adventure.

World book day in year 1 – The Gruffalo

World book day in year 1 – The Gruffalo After reading The Gruffalo, year one designed their very own scary Gruffalo type character. They drew and wrote about their character, using some fantastic adjectives. In the afternoon, the children had a very fun and messy time making their own paper plate Gruffalos and learning The Gruffalo song.
