On Tuesday 26th March, Year 3 and 4 held their Open Afternoon to showcase all of the work they have been doing about Journeys this term. The children have researched the countries and spent many weeks creating displays, products and crafts linked to those countries. We focused our journeys around Europe. Each class explored 3 different countries. The countries explored were:
France, Hungary and Portugal
Ireland, Greece and Germany
Italy, Holland and Spain

Redesdale Primary School once again celebrated the European Day of Languages with French Day. Children enjoyed dressing up for the occasion and tasting French food. Each phase group explored the work of famous french artists and had fun listening to stories in French. Children also enjoyed a special assembly about learning languages. Take a look!

This week we have been reading a story called The Lost Thing, we had to create our own plastercine models of our own Lost Thing and will be doing a story about our own lost thing.

Some children in Year 6 have been chosen to go to Burnside for a Netball Tournament. The children are very excited to go to this amazing trip. We learnt how to play netball last week in P.E.

Key Stage 2 children enjoyed a performance in French of 'Le Chanson du Retour' on Friday 3rd February. They had been learning the French songs so were able to join in and sing along! The show was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

On September 26th the whole school celebrated 'French Day' to mark the European Day of Languages. The whole school had great fun tasting french baguettes and brioche. This is the name of the school. Le Petit Prince is a famous cartoon character in France
I visited France during February Half-Term and had the opportunity to work in a french school. It is very different to school in England! Have a look at some of the pictures I took. What differences can you spot? I took some postcards from 5-6T and delivered them to a Year 6 class. They are going to write back and hopefully we will have a storng link with the school.

To mark the European Day of Languages this year we held a ‘French Day’ on Friday 24th September. Children were allowed to come to school in non-uniform, wearing red, white and blue to represent the colours of the French flag. The day included activities with a French theme and the children were given the opportunity to taste croissants on the day.
