Reception – STEAM Day 2 – Team challenge building a bridge for a boat to sail under. Reception have enjoyed the challenge of making a bridge from any material of their choice. The bridge has to be tall enough to so that a boat 20cm tall can sail underneath. There has been some fantastic team work, listening, cooperation and responding to each other's ideas. Children have been measuring their bridge, adapting their work and being resilient in the process. Tomorrow we continue adapting and modifying our work.

As the children were dressed up in red, white and blue for the day to celebrate our International day for Elham who is leaving the school to go back to Paris

Year 4 visit the Baltic!

Year 4 visit the Baltic! This term Year 4 have been learning all about rivers.  As part of this we learnt about bridges along the River Tyne within our DT lessons.  To end this topic we visited some of these bridges today.  We walked across the Millenium Bridge, Swing Bridge and High Level Bridge as well as visiting the Baltic's viewing terrace to sketch the bridges.  It was a very fun filled adventure.

Year 3 took part in the 7 billion ideas challenge.

Year 3 took part in the 7 billion ideas challenge. Year 3 have worked hard creating world changing ideas. We came up with some ideas and made a prototype. We then presented our ideas to the class and one was a clear favourite.   It will remain a secret until we present it to our Headteacher!

Amazing Algorithm

Amazing Algorithm Year 1 had a brilliant day programming robots and controlling machines. They instructed remote control cars and blue bots, experimented with Zounds; a interactive music device. They saw a Sphero (a remote control ball) in action and created robots using cubelets.
