Year 6 Nissan visit

Year 6 Nissan visit Year 6 enjoyed another terrific interactive day at the Nissan Monozukuri Caravan experience. In the morning session, we learned how metal sheeting can be converted into the body of a vehicle before working collaboratively as an efficient production line to construct model cars.
In the afternoon, we visited the workshop area to test models of Formula 1 type cars and discover how robots are used in the manufacturing process. Back in the activity room, we worked in groups to develop manual dexterity skills and use tools safely. A huge thank you to everyone at Nissan for a fun and education

Year 6 visit Nissan Eco-School Year 6 Eco-Engineers really enjoyed the practical workshops during our visit to Nissan. After testing the wind turbine models we had made at school, we experimented with wind-powered vehicles to investigate the optimum ratio of power to distance. In the afternoon session, we tested electrically-powered model cars to calculate the energy needed to drive the vehicle in a controlled, forward direction. This was followed by a short, but exciting, journey in the latest model of the Nissan Leaf eco-friendly car.

Y5 Basketball Stars Reach Finals

Y5 Basketball Stars Reach Finals Three Y5 teams took part in the Newcastle Eagles Hoops4Health Tournament on Friday 31 January 2020 at the Eagles Arena on Scotswood Rd.  All three teams enjoyed success in their individual groups but it was Redesdale 1 that topped their group with convincing victories against: Christchurch; Cullercoats; New York and Monkhouse.  After scoring 48 points and only conceding 4, Redesdale 1 qualified for the knock out match to determine who would move on to the Grand Finals on Friday 28 February 2020 and take part in a semi-final for the chance to play in the final, at half-time, on the main court

A Victorian Day out at Beamish for Year One. Year one enjoyed a windy Victorian day at Beamish on Wednesday 13th March 2019. The skies remained dry and the children loved the experiences throughout the day. We started our fun filled day with a lesson at the Victorian school. The children got to take part in writing on blackboards with slates, pin boards for maths and reciting a poem. After that, we went for a stroll down the mine. Despite some children expressing they were scared, they all chose to go descend the mine and loved the

DigiLadies visit London

DigiLadies visit London Recently 4 of our Year 6 girls were asked to be part of a project alongside Miss Anderson to become ‘DigiLadies’, working alongside other schools and Laura Dickinson from North tyneside Learning Trust. The project aims to inspire girls to embark in careers in the tech industry.  To get the project started the girls had a visit to the BETT show in London.  They had a fantastic time and the experience was invaluable.

Year 5 visit to ALPHABETTI Theatre! Year 5 enjoyed a visit to the ALPHABETTI Theatre to take part in ‘Walter: A WW1 experience’.  They learned all about life during WW1 for soldiers at the Doscovery Museum and the. Enjoyed a drama workshop to learn about animals who helped during WW1.

 

We enjoyed watching the production of ‘Walter’ at the Theatre followed by a creative writing workshop and trench experience.

Reception visit to the Whitehouse Farm Centre.

Reception visit to the Whitehouse Farm Centre. Reception enjoyed a fun packed day visiting the Whitehouse Farm Centre. We started the day with a fast bumpy tractor ride, followed by a visit to feed the meerkats. Next we went to to petting barn to experience holding small pets including Guinea pigs, rabbits, rats and more. After lunch, we went to feed some of the farm animals which was great fun and to learn some interesting facts them.

The day finished with a trip to the adventure park. The children had a fantastic day and we would like to thank the centre for such a friendly welcome and a big hello to Amy our guide (leader)

Junior Reporters – Year 4 & 5

Junior Reporters – Year 4 & 5 As part of our Junior Reporters Project with Newcastle United Foundation, Year 4/5 went to visit St James’ Park to interview a ‘new signing’ to the club.  They developed their own open ended questions and recorded their answers in note form.  They will use this next week to create their report.

They were also lucky enough to have a tour of the stadium, Mr Chapman was very pleased about this!
