Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education (PSHE) & Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)
We believe that Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education enables our children to become healthy, safe, independent and responsible members of society. It aims to help children to understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We are dedicated to ensuring that Redesdale Primary School is a happy, stimulating and caring place and we expect high standards of behaviour and good manners throughout the school. PSHE is at the heart of our school ethos. Behaviour and attitude to learning is underpinned by values that are taught through PSHE lessons, making it integral to the success of the whole school.
The DfE guidance for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) does not cover everything needed for a well covered PSHE curriculum, so if asked the question has RSHE replaced PSHE – ‘RSHE should be part of PSHE, not instead of.’ We use the PSHE Association and KAPOW Primary to ensure our PSHE & RSHE curriculum covers all aspects of Personal, Social, Health and Economic education and enhances the curriculum for our children.
