ART & DESIGN
Art stimulates and encourages creativity and imagination and is a powerful tool for enhancing mental well being. It provides children with a unique way of understanding and responding to the world. At Redesdale Primary School it is our belief that children will flourish if given the skills to encourage emotional intelligence that can be utilised in all areas of life. Our Art and Design curriculum has been carefully developed with this in mind utilising Access Art.
Our Art and Design curriculum stimulates children’s creativity and imagination. Children investigate their spirit of enquiry, by exploring a range of visual, tactile and sensory experiences. We teach children about the functions of art, craft and design in their own lives and in different times and cultures. Children use and develop their confidence with a variety of tools and techniques and are introduced to and encouraged to discuss the work of other inspiring artists and crafts people. They develop their ability in using colour, tone, shape, form, texture, pattern and a range of materials and processes to communicate what they see, feel and think. All children are encouraged to take pride in their achievements and work with increasing independence as they progress through school. Children appreciate each others work through discussions and displays both in class and around school.
