Year 5 Visit the Life Centre

Year 5 enjoyed a visit to the Life Centre to experience the Planetarium and learn a little more about the solar system and stars.

Recently 4 of our Year 6 girls were asked to be part of a project alongside Miss Anderson to become ‘DigiLadies’, working alongside other schools and Laura Dickinson from North tyneside Learning Trust. The project aims to inspire girls to embark in careers in the tech industry. To get the project started the girls had a visit to the BETT show in London. They had a fantastic time and the experience was invaluable.
Year 5 enjoyed a visit to the ALPHABETTI Theatre to take part in ‘Walter: A WW1 experience’. They learned all about life during WW1 for soldiers at the Doscovery Museum and the. Enjoyed a drama workshop to learn about animals who helped during WW1.
We enjoyed watching the production of ‘Walter’ at the Theatre followed by a creative writing workshop and trench experience.
Reception enjoyed a fun packed day visiting the Whitehouse Farm Centre. We started the day with a fast bumpy tractor ride, followed by a visit to feed the meerkats. Next we went to to petting barn to experience holding small pets including Guinea pigs, rabbits, rats and more. After lunch, we went to feed some of the farm animals which was great fun and to learn some interesting facts them.
The day finished with a trip to the adventure park. The children had a fantastic day and we would like to thank the centre for such a friendly welcome and a big hello to Amy our guide (leader)
As part of our Junior Reporters Project with Newcastle United Foundation, Year 4/5 went to visit St James’ Park to interview a ‘new signing’ to the club. They developed their own open ended questions and recorded their answers in note form. They will use this next week to create their report.
They were also lucky enough to have a tour of the stadium, Mr Chapman was very pleased about this!
Choir had a lovely morning singing our Autumn Term songs at Stephenson Court Nursing Home in Forest Hall. The residents had great fun and so did the children.
What an amazing end to our busy week. Reception absolutely loved their visit to the pantomime.
Reception have enjoyed walking to the Rising Sun Country Park. We explored different ways of building dens and then looked for mini-beats. Using our mini bug viewers with a magnifying lens on the top we looked closely at many different mini-beasts.
The children loved exploring how they moved and looking at the bodies of the mini-beasts. We closely at slugs, centipedes, millipedes, a dragon fly, a bee, spiders, worms, beetles, woodlouse, daddy long legs and more.
Some of the dens had interesting features including a washing line, a washing machine, a rabbit trap
Reception have enjoyed a fabulous day out at the North Shields fish quay visiting the Old Low Lights. We looked at model ships, explored the fish quay and learnt about the history of the Quay and how the market works today.
We also visited the RNLI Life Boat Station and talked to fisherman who worked on the trawlers going out to sea.
