As part of our Victorian theme in History we visited Beamish Musuem. Our journey started with a trip of the upstairs, downstairs tram which was great fun. We then went to the town to visit the dentist. We learnt rich families used tooth brushes with pig hairs and poorer families used soot on special wood to brush their teeth.
Next, we ventured to see sweets being made in the old fashioned sweet shop. There was so many sweets to choose from! Then we strolled down to the bank and visited the vault down stairs which had to special guards. After that, we crossed the road to the bak

Reception have loved exploring our new topic ‘Pirates’ We are excited to learn lots of new facts about pirates. Did you know that pirate ships had a band on board to entertain the crew
The Nursery children have had great fun this week....we found some dinosaur footprints in our garden! This led to some fantastic discussion about what kind of dinosaur it was and where it had gone! The children made a lookout station and spotted some nests in the trees...we are all on the lookout for Pterodactyls! Some children chose to draw what they thought the dinosaur looked like and some thought it was hiding in the shed! A great start to our new topic.
Our Trek to Tokyo campaign is up and running with 18 weeks to complete the 8,816 miles to Tokyo from Redesdale Primary School, which is equivalent of 61,712 laps of the yard.

All classes will have the opportunity for children to complete their laps at least three times a week plus they can top up extra laps with our Primary Leaders at lunch times.
Reception have the target of 2 laps, three times a week

Year 6 enjoyed another terrific interactive day at the Nissan Monozukuri Caravan experience. In the morning session, we learned how metal sheeting can be converted into the body of a vehicle before working collaboratively as an efficient production line to construct model cars.
In the afternoon, we visited the workshop area to test models of Formula 1 type cars and discover how robots are used in the manufacturing process. Back in the activity room, we worked in groups to develop manual dexterity skills and use tools safely. A huge thank you to everyone at Nissan for a fun and education
